Growing up, I was blessed to come from a very financially stable family.

My 2 older brothers and I were provided with a comfortable life, where we did not have to worry about our education and could afford to go on family holidays easily. Thus, I rarely felt I lack much in life.

Complacency thus led me to face my first setback in my academics, where I was placed bottom few in the cohort. Seeing the disappointed look on my form teacher, as well as my parents, really made me reflect on myself.

I realised that I did not want to see that look on their face, and I did not want to disappoint myself further with my results. This woke me up to work hard in everything I do.

This experience also served as a constant reminder to always stay motivated and constantly excel to surpass my own expectations. Since then, I have always challenged myself, setting high expectations to achieve.

The Financial Planning industry was something I never exposed myself to until my University days, where I was approached by Reuben to find out more. It was also an industry I never foresee myself joining, due to the negative stigma that society has about this industry.

However, I took it as a challenge to myself to step out of my comfort zone and change this stigma that society has, hence joining Odyssey.

Through learning from my mentors, Kevin, and Reuben, I began to understand the importance of proper financial planning, and how we should all start planning for it today.

Therefore, it is our job as Financial consultants to be the guide for people we care for, to share and educate the importance of Financial Planning.

Through Odyssey, I was able to spread the knowledge of Financial Planning to many of my friends whom I care for, to encourage them to start planning for their future in the long run.

It delights me to hear that friends I approached took away some key learning points from our sessions together, and pushes me to work harder for them.

I am very grateful to my mentors, Kevin, and Reuben, for bringing me on board this industry and improving on my financial literacy and presentation skills.

This industry also resonates with my constant need for growth and achievement, to surpass my own expectations. Thus, I am confident that I can share the importance of financial planning to my family and friends.

My goal is to be the financial guide to people around me, to educate the importance of financial planning, and ensure that they are well protected and able to live their life to the fullest.
