Financial Services Consultant
Story
Some personal background about myself: I am currently pursuing a double major in Mechanical Engineering and Innovation and Design at NUS. You might wonder how I ended up as a Financial Services Consultant, considering it is quite different from my field of study. Indeed, it is.
Making the decision to join this industry required taking a leap of faith, especially considering the social stigma that exists. However, after completing engineering internships and speaking with leaders in the financial advisory field, it became clear that this move made the most sense. The opportunity to assist clients in achieving their financial and retirement goals daily is something that holds deep meaning for me.
Another motivating factor behind my choice was witnessing the significant number of elderly individuals who are compelled to take up odd jobs due to inadequate savings for retirement. My own grandparents serve as an example. Despite being in their late 70s, they continue to wake up early each morning to deliver newspapers to multiple HDB blocks, 365 days a year. I wish to ensure that none of my clients will have to go through such difficulties in the future.
My aim is not to become just another advisor in this heavily saturated industry. Instead, I aspire to forge a strong bond between myself and my clients, where they can trust me completely, knowing that I have their best interests at heart. Moreover, I want them to feel confident that I will be readily available whenever they need assistance, whether it be for claims or during significant milestones in their lives.
